The Stupidest Thing I Did… {Blog Dare}

a mom blog community
As a child or teenager we all tend to be and act better than the rest. In most cases, peer pressure kicks our butt. Thinking back, the stupidest thing I ever did as a child or teenager was steal money from my aunt. Yes, I was a rebel back then and wasn’t proud of myself at that moment in my life. The knowledge of right and wrong was present, it’s just I chose to ignore it and take it anyway. To this day, I can’t even remember what the money I stole was even used for. I only did it once and I think it was only about $20 or so, but my actions at that time were not fully thought out.

I think this was about the time in my life when I was learning morals and finding out who I was. I think I was about 13 or 14 years old when I did this stupid thing. Looking back, I remember a lot of my friends at the time were doing the same thing. I think that’s how I got the idea and picked up this bad habit. Not that I’m totally blaming my friends, this was entirely 100% my fault because I chose to take the money without permission. But to make a point, friends do have more influence on our mannerisms and actions more that we think they do.

To this day, I feel so blessed that my family put me in Church and encouraged me to be active in my church community and neighborhood. It’s the will power of one that will effect the outcome of another.

In conclusion, I did pay the money back to my aunt and confessed {like 4 mo. later} my actions. Of course, I got grounded and never did it again. My husband and I are currently trying for our first child and I would like to ask all the Mother’s out there now… What is the one thing that you would tell your child or teen that you might have heard when you were their age and opened your eyes to other options and good habits? Maybe it was the Church influence? Maybe it was a best friend influencing you?

  1. Hmmm, Can't think of something that I did that I regret. Does marrying my ex-husband count? But then, I don't regret that either as I have the two most wonderful children on the planet and I wouldn't have them if I wasn't married to him!

  2. New follower from blog it forward Tuesday hop. The blog Dare caught my eye right away I havent seen this one before. Great post as mom to two teens and a toddler. There is so much you want them to learn from your mistakes as a mom and you try to tell them you have been there you have done this and that. At the same time you dont want them saying well you did it, and at the same ti me they are at the age where they think they know best.

  4. I stumbled upon your blog! :) I'd definitely tell my daughters how I got caught up in a boy which caused me not to go to my college of my choice and then, because I was unhappy with my decisions, I got depressed and flunked out... Now I'm trying to finish school while working full-time = not fun.

  5. Giving advice to a teenager is not an easy thing, so whatever you want your child to learn you better do it before they 'know it all'! lol
    I stumbled your post.
